Although the interaction between religion and government was at the highest level in the last two periods, in Afsharid there was no interaction and in Zand period it was limited. After the fall of Safavid dynasty, Afsharid government did not support religious scholars officially, and the scholars were not active in politics domain. Migration to Atabat Aliat and India and secluding in cities and villages indicate their absence in political issues. Historical studies show that due to Nader Shah’s approach to religious issues and breaking away from the religious activities of Safavids, religious scholars could continue their education and propagation activities. A good instance is the scholars who stayed in the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza and engaged safely in their educational activities. Other examples are the religious activities of such outstanding scholars as Khatounabadi, Khansari, Majlesi, and Tabatabai. Such examples show that though Afsharids did not politically support Safavid Shi’ism and pertaining religious activities of society due to external reasons and internal legitimacy, religious scholars and those of responsible of religious affairs performed their social activities in the society.  دوره افشاریه و زندیه به‌عنوان یک دوره گذار و کوتاه‌مدت (1135-1210ق) بین دو دوره صفویه و قاجاریه قرارگرفته است. اگرچه تعامل نهاد دین و دولت در دو دوره اخیر به‌صورت حداکثری بود، اما در دوره افشاریه و زندیه به ترتیب در عدم تعامل و تعامل محدود بوده است. بعد از سقوط صفویه علمای دینی موردحمایت رسمی حکومت افشاریه قرار نگرفتند و حضور کم‌رنگی در فعالیت‌های سیاسی داشتند. مهاجرت به عتبات عالیات و هند، عزلت و گوشه‌نشینی در شهرها و روستاها نمودی از عدم حضور آنان در مشارکت‌های سیاسی بود. تحقیقات تاریخی نشان می‌دهد که با وجود رویکردهای دینی نادرشاه و گسستن از شیوه‌های مذهبی صفویان، علمای دینی به فعالیت‌های آموزشی و تبلیغاتی خود ادامه می‌دادند. یک نمونه آن، علمای مقیم آستان مقدس رضوی هستند که با امنیت به کار آموزشی خود مشغول بودند. چنین مصداق‌هایی نشان می‌دهد که اگرچه رویکرد دینی حکومت افشاریه به لحاظ سیاسی (به دلایل خارجی و مسئله مشروعیت داخلی) عدم‌حمایت رسمی از نهاد دینی و تشیع صفوی و فعالیت‌های مربوط به آن بود، اما علما و متولیان امور دینی به فعالیت‌های مذهبی در سطح اجتماعی ادامه می‌دادند. https://docs.aqr-libjournal.ir/article_177014_a9cf753a69c9e7467277a147e813f78b.pdf
